The École internationale Gaston Thorn participates as a pilot school in the educational program Social, Emotional, and Ethical (SEE) Learning. The Social, Emotional and Ethical (SEE) Learning program was developed by Emory University in Atlanta, USA and adapted to the local educational context by the Centre pour le développement socio-émotionnel (CDSE) in Luxembourg.
The program focuses on the development of life skills such as self-compassion, interpersonal awareness or global engagement.
The project started in four classes in September 2022.
Every other Thursday, three teachers from the Centre pour le développement socio-émotionnel (CDSE) interact with the students for one hour.
The emphasis is on discussion and debate about socially and ethically responsible actions and decision-making processes.
SEE Learning enables students to participate mindfully as members of their class community while also providing educators with tools to support student well-being.
At the end of the school year, the project is evaluated by the school together with the participating classes.
