From 24-26 March 2026, a delegation of 15 EIGT students proudly represented our school at the Model European Council for Accredited Schools (MEC-AES 2026) in Frankfurt, Germany. The event was organized with the collaboration of the European Schools of Rhein-Main and Strasbourg, creating a truly professional and inspiring atmosphere for all participants. Over an intensive three-day programme of debates, negotiations, and press activities -partly hosted at the European Central Bank- EIGT’s students achieved an outstanding performance overall.
Five of our students took on the demanding role of delegates, actively engaging in high-level discussions across several Councils. They contributed thoughtfully to key European topics, including the EU enlargement and democratic resilience, migrant smuggling and digital rights, climate-neutral policies and sustainable cities, EU security and defence, as well as digital taxation and economic resilience. The ability of EIGT’s delegates to argue, negotiate, and collaborate in multilingual and multicultural settings was widely praised.
The work of our 10 student-journalists was equally impressive, in that they formed the backbone of the Press Team. Reporting for The Hive, EIGT’s brand new MEC-AES newspaper, they offered active coverage of debates, they conducted interviews, and they published engaging written articles under time pressure -bringing the entire event to life and showcasing the spirit of European cooperation through their words.
Whether in the debating chambers or behind the scenes in the press room, EIGT’s participants demonstrated exceptional commitment, professionalism and enthusiasm. Their performance is a testament to the strength of EIGT’s European engagement and student initiative.
EIGT’s delegation was coached and accompanied at the conference by Mrs Véronique Mohy, Mr Bjorn Lorenzen, Gilberto Castorini and Efthymios Sipetzis. Both students and teachers, we are looking forward to continuing this journey in the future.
