What we offer
Enrolment in primary school starts at the age of six. Primary education comprises a five-year cycle with three language sections: a French-speaking section, an English-speaking section and a German-speaking section. In addition to the language of the section, the pupils choose a first and a second language (L1 and L2). At EIGT, the language of the section corresponds to the first or second language. The choice of the second language L2 must be different from the first language L1. The Luxembourgish language is an integral part of the learning program in all language sections.
The École internationale Gaston Thorn will offer a P1, P2, and P3 in both language sections English and French for the 2023–2024 academic year.
The École internationale Gaston Thorn offers an all-day program from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.. The day’s program consists of compulsory lesson hours and an optional child-care service. The compulsory timetable for all students is: Monday – Wednesday – Friday: from 8:00 a.m. to 11:50 p.m. and from 13:20a.m to 16:00 p.m / Tuesday and Thursday: from 8:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. During the lunch break and after the school lessons, the children are supervised by the educational team of the child-care service (foyer scolaire) of the City of Luxembourg. Between 7.30am and 8.00am, childcare is available for the children at the school.
School buses provide safe transport for our pupils from their homes to school and back. On each bus, an escort ensures that the children are on the right bus and get off at the right stop. In order for this safety to function properly, each child must be registered or de-registered for school transport.
Registration or de-registration can be done either in person at the secretary’s office with Mr. David Baillon or in writing via david.baillon@eigt.lu.
Here you will find the bus network with the schedules:

The child-care service is optional and offered by the education and care service for children (SEA) of the City of Luxembourg. The educational team of the SEA welcomes children during the lunch break and after 4:00 p.m. for cultural, musical, artistic or sporting activities. This service requires registration and a contribution to the costs via service checks (chèques-services accueil – CSA).
Living together in a community means exchanging, understanding and holding on to freedoms and rules. As part of the school’s pillar democracy, the teachers encouraged the children to think about rules in everyday school life. Each class submitted ideas, which were collected and recorded by the teachers.
